Her artistic practice focuses on themes of memory, trauma, post-traumatic growth, and gender-related social issues. She works across mediums such as performance, objects, video, and photography, often incorporating elements of disappearance, invisibility, and repetition. Maria uses her own body as a utilitarian material in her art, treating it as a central tool for expression and exploration. Her projects are grounded in feminist perspectives, manual labor, and historical contexts, with a strong emphasis on integrating the local environment as a vital component of her work. Through her art, she highlights the relationship between the individual body and its performative role in driving and responding to social change, showcasing the deep interconnectedness between personal experience and societal transformation.
